Many opportunities for advanced education are readily available Lake Hollingsworth looking south... at Florida Southern College, the University of South Florida/
Polk Community College campus and Southeastern College as well as many private colleges throughout the county. The Florida Southern College campus on the north shore of the beautiful Lake Hollingsworth, boasts the world's largest single site collection of architecture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on its sprawling 100-plus acre campus and enjoys the southern view of the lake shown here.

Downtown Lakeland is a mixture of old and new architecture and thrives today with restaurants, clubs, shopping and the renowned antique district which draws visitors from near and far. Weekdays one can tour the area with "Brad" on the downtown trolley route.
Visitors shouldn't miss downtown Lake Morton which is a protected haven to our cherished Swan population as well as dozens of other species of ducks and birds. Having a leisurely box lunch on one of Lake Morton's many park benches is truly a "magical" experience!

For those who enjoy the sunshine & outdoors, the City of LakelandDowntown's "Munn Park" maintains many public parks and there are plenty of opportunities for fresh air recreation such as golf, tennis, boating and fishing. And if your into
competitive sports, then we've got your ticket! Local Joker Marchant Stadium is the spring training site of the Detroit Tigers followed by the Lakeland Tigers baseball season. For Pro Sports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Orlando Magic, Devil Rays and the Tampa Bay Lightning pro stadiums are all within a short driving distance.

Boasting ideal subtropical weather (average temp. of 72 degrees) Lakeland is alive with events and happenings year around. Each year in mid-April the Sun 'n Fun Fly-In,Sun 'n' Fly-In is Fun! an aerial extravaganza has grown to become America's second largest aviation event of its type making the Lakeland Airport the busiest in the country for a full week booking every hotel/motel room in Polk county a year in advance. The "Mayfaire-by-the-Lake" Art Festival each Mother's Day weekend on downtown Lake Morton draws huge crowds, as do many other annual local Munn Park festivals, fairs and events.
